You know that moment, when you’re craving a luxuriously cheesy pasta dish, but realise Padella’s fully booked for the rest of the night? Well fear not. You can get all of the cheesy goodness you want from my tried and tested pasta bake recipe below.
Pasta bake’s are somewhat of a staple in my diet. I love how you can make a huge batch of it, and freeze the rest for another time (unless you’re in my household!)
I’ve experimented with so many recipe’s over the years, however none of them were quite right. So I decided to grab the best bits, and make one ultimate pasta bake champion dish.
The best bit? You can switch these ingredients out to whatever you have in the fridge, and it still works every time.
Have a go and let me know what you think in the comments below.
The BEST Pasta Bake Recipe
Ingredients
- 60 g Pasta
- 1 clove Garlic (minced)
- 2 tsp Butter
- 2 tsp Flour (any)
- 150 ml Milk
- 1/2 Stock Cube
- 1/4 tsp EACH Other Seasoning (I used onion powder, chilli powder, basil, thyme, parsley)
- 120 g Vegetables or Meat of your choice
- 40 g Cheese (shredded)
- Oil
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Boil water with some salt, and add the pasta. Cook for 5 minutes, until al dente.
- In a large pan, add half the butter and a drizzle of oil.
- When hot, add the garlic and stir for a few seconds.
- Add in your meat or vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and cook through.
- When cooked, add in the rest of the butter and all of the flour. Stir.
- Slowly pour in your milk, stirring as you go.
- When mixture is incorporated, add in the stock powder, salt, pepper, additional seasoning, and 1/4 of the cheese. (Keep stirring to avoid the mixture burning at the bottom of the pan.)
- When the sauce has thickened (usually after a few minutes), mix in the drained pasta and meat or vegetables.
- Spread the mixture evenly in an oven dish, top with the remaining cheese, and bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Enjoy!
