Noko: Camberwell’s Best-Kept Secret

Noko Camberwell

When it comes to Chinese restaurants, London is a treasure trove, you just need to head to China Town to see that. However, tucked away in the heart of Camberwell, there’s a little gem called Noko that’s redefining the art of Chinese cuisine. If you’re someone who craves that burst of flavour, you’re in for a treat.

Atmosphere

Noko might be on the petite side, but don’t let its size fool you. The moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. During my visit, the restaurant was bustling, yet somehow it managed to maintain an air of intimacy.

It’s one of those rare places where you can have a lively conversation without feeling like you’re sharing your secrets with the entire restaurant. The warm lighting and charming decor add to the overall ambiance, making it a great spot for a relaxed, enjoyable evening.

Food

If you’re on the hunt for some serious flavour fireworks, then Noko in Camberwell, should be your new go-to spot. As a spice enthusiast from birth, I was absolutely thrilled with the taste sensations at Noko.

The standout dishes for me were the Chili Calamari with a perfect crispy exterior and a fiery kick, unlike any other calamari I’ve had before; the Broccoli Tahini Skewers, because I don’t know what I was expecting, but what turned up on the plate was pure flavour magic; The Nasu, which was a beautifully seasoned, roasted aubergine; and the Diver Scallops, again I don’t know what they put in the seasoning but I wanted to slurp the sauce like a child.

The full list of what I ordered is:

  • Smashed Cucumber
  • Chilli Calamari (x2 because it was that good!)
  • Prawn Dumplings
  • Broccoli Tahini Skewers
  • Dan Dan Noodles
  • Nasu Aubergine
  • Diver Scallops

Price

Noko isn’t just about fantastic food and a charming atmosphere; it’s also incredibly budget-friendly. I went to dinner with two friends, and for the quality and variety of dishes we indulged in, plus 3 glasses of wine and tip, the bill came to less than £100 – a bargain. In a city where dining expenses can sometimes be excessive, Noko offers a culinary experience that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Overall

Noko is a hidden gem in Camberwell that’s well worth the journey out of central London. With unmatched food quality, explosive flavors, a cozy atmosphere, and prices that won’t leave you gasping, it’s a spot that should be on every food lover’s radar.

You can book a table at Noko by calling them, or DM’ing them on Instagram.
