Fenty Skin: Day and Night Cream Review

Fenty Skin Day and Night Creams

She’s conquered music, makeup and lingerie, now she’s onto skincare. Rihanna launched Fenty Skin in the summer of 2020, and there was a lot of hype around it. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some!

Before I begin, I think it’s important to know that this brand is extremely eco-friendly. Rihanna has made sure that Fenty Skin is Earth conscious by ensuring the company go by the golden rule of the 3 R’s – reduce, reuse, recycle.

They’ve eliminated boxes where possible, and the ones that they do use are all recyclable. They have a refill scheme whereby once you’ve bought the product you want, you just need to purchase a refill when you want more, it’s cheaper and kinder to the environment.

Not only is the majority of the packaging and tubs made from recycled products, they also have a nifty feature on each product page to tell you exactly what parts can be recycled and how!

Fenty Skin Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream

Pros:

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. This cream feels like silk on your face, in a good way. It smoothes on perfectly and doesn’t feel heavy at all, even though it is a “gel-cream”. It is also very hydrating.

One of the main tests I like to do when trying night creams is to see how my skin feels the next morning, and with this Fenty Skin Gel-Cream, my face felt hydrated and soft when I woke up.

In terms of price, this product is on the mid to low end of night creams, coming in at £36 for 100ml. I do like that the tub is 100ml, unlike the majority of other highstreet brands, which means it will last a lot longer.

Cons:

This one is slightly confusing, because in my mind Rihanna is known for her cool and quirky ways. So the fact that this cream smells like a cheap 90’s “free when you buy a Spice Girls perfume” moisturiser, is mind boggling. And it’s pretty strong. Unfortunately for me, this slightly ruins the luxurious feeling the actual product gives me.

Another downside is that to create this scent, they’ve had to add in some known allergens. I didn’t get any reactions to this product, but it’s worth noting that you might.

Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Spf 30

Pros:

It’s nice to find an SPF moisturiser that isn’t cakey or greasy. This day cream has a lovely light consistency and doesn’t feel oily when on the skin. It also doesn’t leave a whitish hue which is a real bugbear of mine when it comes to SPF’s for the face.

It leaves my skin feeling pretty hydrated for most of the day, and it sits well under make up. Like the night cream, this product is also in the mid to low price range at £32 for 100ml.

Cons:

Again, it’s the fragrance. Whilst this one is slightly lighter than the night cream, it still isn’t pleasant. I also prefer to have a stronger SPF on my face, especially in the summer.

Overall

Adding these two products to my skincare routine was quite nice. Despite the smell, both creams were hydrating and light. The added bonus of not causing too much harm to the environment is also a massive plus. I would use both again, if I could mask the smell with something else.
